There are two types of cookies. One type saves a file for a longer period of time on your computer. It is used, for example, in functions that tell about what is new since the user last visited the current website. The second type of cookie is called session cookie. If your browser offers that option, you can set a rule that means you can surf with as few restrictions as possible, but still minimize the risks that cookies bring. For example, you can choose to block third-party cookies so that whoever tries to map your activity on the web will find it more difficult to map your activity on more than one website.
Some browsers allow you to register the websites you visit frequently as trusted websites, which means that cookies from these websites are always accepted. For other websites, you as a user can choose to manually decide on each new cookie or to block cookies completely.
You can easily turn off cookies in whole or in part, but this may have some consequences. For example, the websites that require login may become impossible to use and in some cases it may become impossible for you to order goods from an e-commerce site.
